18/02/2010 - Disabled Football Teams for FCC
For some time, we have been looking at providing football coaching for disabled members and to achieve this we put together a large and ambitious football foundation bid to provide football coaching, as well as drop in sessions and multi agency support with football at its core.

Unfortunately, this bid was unsuccessful.  Initially it did well, getting through a very difficult first round but failed at the second stage as it was felt that we were trying to do too much, too soon.  All was not in vain though, as we learnt alot about the bid process and made some very useful contacts which we will make full use of over the coming months.

So we have taken the advice on board and will be starting slowly, offering football coaching on Friday nights at Bishops Park College, on the all weather court.  There is no booking, just turn up, pay and play.  The fee for the session will be £2 and this is open to anyone with a disability, be it physical, mental illness or learning difficulty and of any age. The coaching will be undertaken by a minimum level two coach, who has attended specialist FA courses.

The goal is to to enter teams under the FC Clacton banner in the Essex FA Soccability League.  This is an excellent initiative for which Essex FA have rightly received much praise. Full details are at http://www.disabilityfootballessex.btik.com/p_Home.ikml. There are league events every couple of months on a 5 a side basis where all teams play each other and a table is kept. There are leagues for over 16s, under 16s and at the last event there was even a few ladies teams.

I have attended one of these events and they are well organised and really good fun, with the very obvious enjoyment of everyone involved. Teams attend from all over Essex and we feel strongly that this is something the Club should support and we hope that in the future there will be players participating proudly wearing their FC Clacton kit.

We have also set up a facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/FC-Clacton-disabled-football-teams/299092884717?ref=mf, in the hope of attracting people via that medium so please join as fans and spread the word that way.

We know from our research there are many potential players in the Clacton area, but reaching them to let everyone know what we have planned will be difficult and it will take time to build up the sessions. We are committed to taking that time and doing all we can to offer football for all.

If anyone knows of anyone that may like to get involved please contact me for further details.

Training starts next Friday, the 26th February, from 5 till 6pm at Clacton Coastal Academy (formally Bishops Park) in Jaywick Lane, on the all weather court.

Thank you
Stephen

15/02/2010 - Seasiders pull out of East Anglian Cup
Following Saturday's postponement at Stowmarket Town, we have decided to pull out of this season's East Anglian Cup competition to minimise a fixture congestion once again towards the end of the season, prioritising our concerns in the league and First Division Knockout Cup.

Therefore, the tie against Burnham Ramblers scheduled for Tuesday 9 March 2010 at hte Bowl has been cancelled.  Instead, on this date we now have the  rearranged match at Stowmarket Town.

10/11/2009 - Seasiders mourn death of former player

It was with deep regret that we have learnt of the death of former Clacton Town player Chris Hazelton.  Chris, aged 61, sadly passed away on Saturday after battling Cancer for the past two years

He played over 300 games for Clacton Town in two spells having first signed in 1971 until 1975 and played left-back.  He starred in the team that won the Eastern Counties League Cup in 1974 and also in the team that finished as Runners-up in the league the following year.

After his playing days were over, he continued to watch a vast amount of Clacton Town/FC Clacton games over the past fifteen years with his great friend Andy Hillier, accompanying Andy many times to watch his sons Adam, Paul and Sean.

Chris’s funeral will be held on Monday 16 November at 11.00am at Weeley Crematorium.

28/09/2009 - Essex Under 18's role for FCC's Johnson

FC Clacton's Under 18's player Danny Johnson played for the Essex Under 18's side at the weekend against Middlesex Under 18's and was the only Ridgeons League based player in the squad.  Here is the match report courtesy of the Essex FA:

Middlesex Under 18's 5-2 Essex Under 18's

Sunday 28 September 2009, Farm Park , Kick-Off 1:00pm

Under 18s Representative Friendly

By Robert Craven

Essex Under 18s concluded their preparations for the upcoming FA County Youth Cup First Round fixture by slipping to a 5-2 defeat in Middlesex at the home of AFC Hayes.

Having kept clean sheets in their previous three outings, this experimental Essex outfit conceded twice in the first-half - including a bizarre goal three minutes before half-time - and then three more times during the second period.

However, boss Howard Mackler refused to be bowed by the result as he looked ahead to Saturday’s County Youth Cup tie at home to Hampshire. “We tried a few players in different positions today to see how they would react,” he revealed. “We also have four important players to bring back into the squad, so I’m pleased with our build-up to the new season.”

There was plenty for Mackler to be positive about during an entertaining first period, although Middlesex enjoyed the better chances during the opening gambits, with Johanan Adjei-Dawkins forcing Lewis Batchford into a decent save and Daniel Wishart prodding wide. Essex had made a bright start too, and Perry McIntyre came within inches of putting the visitors in front on 21 minutes when he latched onto Jack Gardner’s chipped through ball and directed his shot against the base of the right-hand post.

Within ninety seconds, Essex deservedly took the lead. This time McIntyre was the provider, sending strike partner Olli Dingli clear on the left-hand side and the Brentwood Town front-man made no mistake with an angled effort just inside the upright.

Home goalkeeper Dane Buss was beaten again shortly afterwards when Pearce Clark fired narrowly off-target from 30 yards, but Middlesex were level within five minutes of Essex taking the lead. Ryan Batchford was adjudged to have handled Wishart’s shot, and Dean Worman sent Lewis Batchford the wrong way with the resultant penalty.

Essex came close to restoring their advantage as Gareth Madden was unable to connect with James Love’s centre and McIntyre saw Joel Jacobs effect an excellent block as he attempted to turn in Madden’s own cross. Dingli’s run also ended in disappointment as no-one was able to keep pace with his speedy left-wing run. The hosts were not without their own chances, Batchford pushing Edward Clements’ shot around the post before gathering Alfie Arthur’s stabbed attempt.

Middlesex edged in front on 42 minutes in freakish circumstances. Danny Johnson’s back pass appeared to offer no threat, but Batchford’s clearance rebounded off of the persistent Wishart and careered into the net at an acute angle. Wishart doubled his personal tally within forty seconds of the restart with a more accomplished finish, cutting inside from the left before firing underneath substitute ‘keeper David Hughes.

Clark’s dipping shot was claimed by Buss as Essex looked to respond, but instead it was Middlesex who scored next midway through the half. Nathan Webb pushed the ball through to substitute Rory Jennings, whose driven shot eluded Hughes.

Two substitutes combined a little under a quarter-of-an-hour from the end to make it 5-1, with Jack Taylor squaring the ball from the left flank for Jennings to side-foot home. However, there was reward for Essex ’s persistence seven minutes from time as Dingli was shoved from behind and brushed himself down to convert the penalty kick himself.

Middlesex: Dane Buss (Ashford Town (Middlesex)), Mitchell Dunstall (Hayes & Yeading United), Joel Jacobs (Hayes & Yeading United), Chris Chambers (Wealdstone), Tom Brown (Forest United), Alfie Arthur (Staines Town), Nathan Webb (Hayes &Yeading United), Dean Worman (Hayes & Yeading United), Edward Clements (North Greenford United), Daniel Wishart (Hayes & Yeading United), Johanan Adjei-Dawkins (Northwood). 04/08/2009 - Junior Referee of the Year Award for Dean
Following our recent story of the six FC Clacton Under 16 players who each received a long-service award for their commitment to the club, one of those has now also won another award after being voted the Junior Referee of the Year.

Dean Everitt is pictured above receiving his awards from the Colchester & District Youth League President and Chairman.

Dean won the Junior Referee Highest Average Points Award as well as Junior Referee of the Year. He was also runner-up in the overall Referee of the Year Award.

For the last few years, Dean has combined his playing duties with refereeing on Sundays. He has done this to a high standard and been a credit to himself and refereeing.

He has also refereed many FC Clacton teams last season, along with other teams and has earned the accolades of many referees as well as club managers and secretaries.

Our congratulations go to Dean who is a credit to FCC.
