FC Clacton vs Rowhedge Juniors

Sunday 22nd January 2012 - 12.30PM Kick Off - Rush Green Bowl

Fresh from our victory at home last week, the FC Clacton U9's were raring for another outing, and keen for another three points in the bag.  We knew it would be an interesting match, pitted against the league leaders Rowhedge Juniors, but we knew we have the skill and the passion to win through, and win through we did, and in style.

Although the sun started to shine, this was cancelled out by the fierce wind that howled across the Bowl, but at 12.30pm we lined up and the whistle blew and off we went.  Not 20 seconds into the match, we press early and have two credible attempts on the Rowhedge goal.  Its clear from these early minutes that the visitors seemed rather nervous and we capitalise on this by pilling on the pressure, with Harrison Lewis putting one wide at 3 minutes in.

At 6 minutes in, we win a corner, and Ryan Csaforda steps up to take, in really tricky windy conditions.  Despite this, he delivers a perfect ball into the box, narrowly missing the head of Joshua King, but Harrison Lewis manages to thread the ball across the box to Reuben Cowler, who fires and hits the back of the net, putting us 1-0 up!

We continue to pressure Rowhedge, winning most of the possession and this would soon pay off at 16 minutes in, when Harrison Lewis wins a ball at the centre line, turns and runs passing three opposition players, firing the ball in a tight line across the goal mouth and into the bottom right corner.  This puts us into 2-0 lead!  The whistle goes for Halt Time, and we look like we are commanding this game.

This game was always going to be won, or lost in the first 5 minutes of the second half, and that is exactly what our lads did, we stepped up a gear, and despite the healthy lead and at just 30 seconds in, Harrison Lewis on the left wing hammers a ball from just outside the box, hitting the net!  This stretched our lead to 3-0!

Confidence is running high and once again at 34 minutes in, Ryan Csaforda crosses a great ball in from the wing, flying past their keeper and into the back of the net!  This put us in the winning position of 4-0!

The remaining 15 minutes of the match play out in the same vein as the first, with FC Clacton dominating play, keeping possession and frustrating their opponents.  In the dying moments of the match, Rowhedge make their only credible attempt, just over our crossbar - but by this time it was over all bar the shouting!  

Shouting we did do, when the whistle for full time went off, and we come away with another three points, another clean sheet and more importantly toppling the table leaders!
