FC Clacton U9's vs Harwich & Parkeston Sunday 15th January 2012 - 10.30am Kickoff After last weeks excellent win to put the lads into the last eight of the League Cup, we were keen to get back into the action to try and consolidate our position in the league table and challenge the top two in the second part of our season, and this saw us up against rivals Harwich & Parkeston. On a cold morning, with just the odd ray of sunshine, our lads lined up for another important match. Off the whistle went, and Clacton pressed into the Harwich half with an early attempt from Joshua King at the goal mouth, and then from Mitchell Kill, just putting it over the bar. As this was only 1 minute in, it looked like an exciting match was ahead of us, and once again at 3 minutes, Joshua runs on goal, but the Harwich keeper collects safely. FC Clacton U9's look the better team, playing some great positional football, and totally dominating play, and this pays off when at 5 minutes in Reuben Cowler supplies a lovely lobbed ball from the half way line to Mitchell Kill who threads the ball through into the box for Joshua King, who cooly slips it past the keeper for his first FCC Goal - 1-0. Harwich just cant seem to keep hold of the ball, and Clacton midfeld just repell all attempts to break through and march into their box, with a number of near misses that could have seen us go ahead by three of four more goals, but at the half time whistle, we stay at 1-0. After half-time oranges and drinks, and the sunshine starting to come through Harwich look like they finally want to be in the game, and start to put together some better football, but it isn't long before Clacton go up a gear again. At 24mins, Harrison Lewis wins a throw, and fires the ball down the line to a waiting Joshua King, who neatly lays it off to Reuben Cowler who takes an instinctive shot and plants it into the net, putting us 2-0 up! Everyone could sense that Harwich were demoralised by the Clacton lads, and the final straw came at 37 minutes, when Jake Mayes fires a ball from our half to Reuben Cowler who side steps two defenders, bobbing and weaving like a championship boxer and firing at goal which the Harwich keeper fumbles, allowing Joshua King to mop up and secure the winner at 3-0! The result from this point was never in doubt and FC Clacton U9's cruise till the final whistle - securing another vital three points, which are crucial in a tight top 3 of the league. Thanks go to Harwich and Parkeston for travelling to Rush Green Bowl and being a good team and opposition. Another clean sheet - another 3 points - on we march in the East Singles League! Go Seasiders!!!!! |
