FC Clacton U9's vs Little Oakley

This Sunday saw the first game of the 2011/2012 season for our FC Clacton U9 lads, with the added bonus of being at our home ground.  This would be against Little Oakley, a team we have never played before and with the sun shining our lads lined up for their opener!

From the whistle it was clear that we were going to have a tough match, with both teams taking the ball and running confidently, but early on FC Clacton U9's pressed the opposition hard.  We had many opportunities, with good runs on goal and five or six near misses!!!  It seemed that whatever we did we just could not get the ball over the line!

We battled on through the first half, but this resulted in no goals and upon the whistle blowing, it was looking like it may be a 0-0 draw!

We gathered ourselves together, had a good drink and half time oranges and got back out there!

The second half was a real corker, and even though our opponents went ahead early on, the lads kept their heads held high and battled on applying pressure, and this resulted in our equaliser by Leon.  Off we went again, and we could now smell a win, and quickly pushed forward to win a corner.  Ryan stepped up and placed a perfect corner into the box and straight into the back of the net!!! This put 2-1 ahead!

After the kick off again Little Oakley won a corner, and to their credit, put the ball cleanly onto the head of one of their players, pushing the ball straight into the net to equalise 2-2 and now we had a real game on our hands!

The ball flew back and forth between each ends, with many near misses from both teams, but with 3 minutes of the match left, we broke forward, and Mitchell our captain found an opportunity to strike and strike he did at some distance - and fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net!

The sound of cheers from the team and supporters could have been heard for miles!

The lads kept going to the final whistle for a very well deserved win 3-2!

What a fantastic start to the season, and a momuntenal effort from the lads!  We would like to thank the Little Oakley team for travelling to us, and for a great match!

Our manager Jamie would like to give everyone on the team a massive High Five!  Well done you have done us all proud again!

Up the Seasiders!!!!
