Goals from Sean Bartlett, Matt Waters and a brace from Mark White gave FCC a comfortable win over Border League outfit Tiptree Jobserve at Thurstable School this afternoon. Due to extensive works on their pitches, the game had to be played on astroturf, and it took FCC a little while to adapt to the conditions.

FCC included 8 players from the Under 18s and "A" Team in the squad, and the youngsters impressed with their eagerness. Sam Ross, Sam Nunn and Sean Bartlett in particular showing that the Club has a good looking future. There were some good touches from Paul Hillier, while Gregg Heighway and Chris Ribchester looked solid at the back and Danny Smith was.......well, Danny Smith! It was good to see Danny back after his head injury problems from last season and showing no ill effects.

All in all it was a useful workout in the heat, and on a strange surface, which will stand the boys in good stead for the tougher tests to come over the next two weeks.
