Hall of Fame entry #5 - Terry Ledgerton

Born in Liverpool on 7 October 1930, Terry Ledgerton was without doubt, one of Clacton Town's cleverest left-wingers ever to play for the club.

He joined The Seasiders at the beginning of the 1955/56 season from Millwall and before his spell at The Lions, he was with Brentford whom he made over 50 appearances for in the Second Division.  He made his Brentford debut on 9 February 1952 aged 21 years and 125 days and his last appearance came in a FA Cup second replay match at home to Hull City on 18 January 1954.

In the 1955/56 season, he established a new individual goalscoring record for Clacton Town with 30 goals to his name and along with Johnny McKim, he formed the strongest left-wing combination in the Eastern Counties League with the pair scoring 41 goals between them.

In his second season in 1956/57, he then bettered his own record by scoring 31 times.  Having lived in London the season before, Terry moved to Clacton in 1956.

Terry continued to play for Clacton until into the sixties and was an instrumental part of the squad that won the Southern League First Division in 1959/60 - Clacton Town's greatest ever moment.

One final interest of note is that Terry's Grandson is none other than Matt Waters who at the time of writing is FC Clacton's record goalscorer.

Terry Ledgerton - a true Clacton Town great!
