Sixth Supporters Club Meeting

The sixth FC Clacton Supporters Club meeting was held on Saturday 16 April 2011 at 13.00pm and here are the minutes from the meeting:

Apologies

Karl, Ossy, Mick, Baz, Harvey and Dave.

Minutes of last meeting

All that was brought up was that all Colchester United Hospitality Box refunds had been sorted.  Thanks to people for kindly refusing their refunds - much appreciated!  Also, money still to come for one of our signed shirts previously donated to the supporters club by Gary Peacock.  This will be sorted next week. One signed shirt that had been paid for has still not been collected.

Chairman's report

Jon is still chasing Tescos for donation.  Jon then introduced Gay Bicknell, daughter of Clacton Town Manger from our Southern League Division One Championship side of 1959/60 Roy Bicknell.  She proposed that she would like to donate a Young Player of the Season trophy (This had also been discussed and agreed with Karl Fuller before this meeting date).  This will either be presented by herself or the Goalkeeper of that time, Bill Dalziel.

Secretary's report

It was discussed that the price of the Matchday Programme will have to go up for the 2011/12 season due to printing costs and other price increases.  After a brief discussion, there was a vote and the new price will be £1.40.  It was then discussed if a token system or some other promotion could be offered in the programme.

It was also reminded that the quiz night was due later on the evening of this meeting and we had not seemed to have had many teams entered (unfortunately, we were to be proved right).

27th May 2011 was noted as the date of the Presentation Evening.

We was going to go through the list of jobs that still need filling at the club, looking for volunteers.  But decided, it was not worth it due to the lack of people at the meeting.

Help for Heroes seven-a-side -  Steve Andrews mentioned that this event is on the 15th May 2011.  All volunteers will be greatly appreciated.

Treasurers Report

Supporters Club account at date of meeting was a very respectable amount of £335.63.

100 Club account around 100.00.

Club Shop

Not really a lot to say, but a t-shirt was to be offered as a prize at the quiz night (but that didn't happen).

100 Club
Next draw to take place at our home game against Brantham Atletic on Monday 25 April 2011.  We then discussed what people thought of asking for three-months in advance so that we can carry on through the summer.  This was agreed.

Ideas

It was suggested by Dave Cooper that a lottery bonus ball competition could be organised at £1.00 per entry.  £30.00 for the winner and £19.00 to the Club, making the Club £980.00 in a year.  Steve Andrews suggested that the Club should have one number.  If drawn, all money goes to the Club.  It was suggested that we should start at the quiz night on the evening of this meeting.  It was then mentioned that we had already asked for people to bring raffle prizes for the quiz night. (Little did we know!!). After the meeting, Jon went around the clubhouse and found that there were no takers. This will be looked at again at a later date.

Any Other Business

Ossy sent a little reminder that he wanted us to discuss the FCC Webshop.  We quote "lots of people use online shopping and if they go via the club webshop, the club gets commision.  I did this the other day, you get exactly the same deal, but the club gets some extra money and it only takes you about thirty-seconds longer.  We thought it would be a good time to remind people as they might be looking to book a holiday.  There are lots of holiday and hotel Companies and a couple of airlines.  There are various insurance Companies, and most of the big mobile phone Companies.  Finally, Amazon, Play.com and Waterhouse are all on there. So if you are buying CDs, DVDs or books, the club will make money."

Go on the main page on the website and on the right, click on FCC Webshop to acces this.

Mick sent some items he wanted to be brought up.  Firstly, he suggested that the crossword puzzle should be taken out of next seasons programme.  This has a cost of £20.00 per season.  I asked if anyone at the meeting did the crossword – no-one did.  He also mentioned that he had been offered by Ossy, £20.00 for all of the oldClactonTown merchandise.  It was then mentioned, did Ossy know something we didn't?

Next was that it was mentioned at the last meeting, that the club was thinking of holding a car boot sale.  This caused a bit of confusion as Steve mentioned it was on Bank Holiday Monday (day of  the Brantham game), but we then found that  this was not being held at the club, but at the airfield.  If anyone wants to bring items into the club, these would be sold at that sale.  Sorry for the confusion.
Lastly, Mick mentioned to see if any programme collector would be interested in looking at our range of programmes in the club shop.

A new Supporters Club member - Carl Attrill - suggested opening a twitter account.  This has been done, thanks Carl.

Next Meeting Date

No date of next meeting was arranged.

We would like to thank those of you that turned up.  Although small in turnout, a great amount of interesting and exciting items were discussed.  Also thanks for Gay Bicknell attending.
